Terms of Service

Welcome to Tiri. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and Tiri (“Tiri,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) and govern your use of the Tiri mobile app, our websites, and related services (together, the “Service”). By downloading, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use Tiri. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. By using the Service, you confirm you meet these requirements and that you can form a binding contract with us.

2. Your account

  • Some features require an account created with a valid email address. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date.
  • You’re responsible for all activity under your account and for keeping your credentials confidential. Notify us promptly at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized use.
  • You may not share your account, or create an account on behalf of someone else without authorization.

3. License to use Tiri

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, and revocable license to download and use the Service for your own, non-commercial language learning. We reserve all rights not expressly granted.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Copy, resell, rent, sublicense, or redistribute the Service or its content.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape, or attempt to extract our source code, course data, or audio, except to the limited extent the law expressly permits.
  • Use the Service to break the law, infringe anyone’s rights, or to harass, abuse, defame, or harm others.
  • Upload or transmit malware, or interfere with, overload, or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other users’ accounts, or our systems.
  • Use the AI tutor to generate unlawful, harmful, hateful, or abusive content, or to attempt to circumvent its safeguards.
  • Use automated means to access the Service in a way that exceeds normal personal use, or remove any proprietary notices.

We may investigate and take appropriate action, including removing content and suspending or terminating accounts, for any violation.

5. Subscriptions & billing

  • Free and paid tiers. Tiri is free to start. Some features require a paid subscription (“Tiri Pro”).
  • Billing through the stores. Subscriptions are sold and billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play and are subject to their terms. Payment is charged to your store account at confirmation of purchase.
  • Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your store account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
  • Cancellation. Manage or cancel anytime in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep access until then.
  • Price changes. We may change subscription prices. Changes apply to future billing periods, and where required we’ll give you advance notice and the chance to cancel.
  • Refunds. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable, and partial periods are not refunded. Refund requests are handled by the applicable app store under its policies.

6. Free trials & promotions

We may offer free trials or promotional offers. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, it will automatically convert to a paid subscription at the applicable price. Eligibility for trials and offers is determined by us and the app stores, and offers may be changed or withdrawn at any time. Only one trial may be available per user or store account.

7. AI tutor

The Service includes an AI tutor that generates explanations and replies automatically using third-party AI models. You understand that:

  • AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date, and is provided for language-learning purposes only, not as professional, legal, medical, or financial advice.
  • You should use your own judgment and verify anything important.
  • You are responsible for the messages you send, and you must not submit content that violates Section 4 or that includes others’ sensitive personal information.
  • Your messages are processed as described in our Privacy Policy.

8. Your content

“Your Content” means anything you submit through the Service, such as tutor messages. You retain ownership of Your Content. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, process, and use Your Content as needed to operate, secure, and improve the Service (including transmitting it to the AI provider to generate responses). You represent that you have the rights to submit Your Content and that it doesn’t violate these Terms or any law.

9. Our intellectual property

The Service, including its courses, text, audio, images, design, trademarks, logos, and software, is owned by Tiri or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. The “Tiri” name and logo are our trademarks; you may not use them without our prior written permission. These Terms do not transfer any ownership to you.

10. Feedback

If you send us suggestions or feedback, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use it without restriction or obligation to you. We’re always glad to hear how to make Tiri better.

11. Changes to the Service

We’re continually improving Tiri and may add, change, or remove features and content over time. We aim to keep existing learners’ progress and content identifiers stable so your data keeps working, but we can’t guarantee that any particular feature, course, or piece of content will remain available. We may also impose limits or suspend the Service for maintenance.

12. App stores & third parties

You obtain the app through, and your use is also subject to, the rules of the Apple App Store or Google Play. Where you use the app on an Apple device, you acknowledge that these Terms are between you and Tiri (not Apple), that Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app, and that Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms with the right to enforce them. The Service also relies on third-party providers (for example, for AI, payments, and hosting); their services are governed by their own terms, and we are not responsible for them.

13. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don’t warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that using it will achieve any particular learning outcome.

14. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tiri and its officers, employees, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, goodwill, or use, arising out of or relating to the Service, even if advised of the possibility. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 50. Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Tiri and its affiliates from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

16. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Upon termination, the license in Section 3 ends. Sections that by their nature should survive, including intellectual property, Your Content license, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law, will continue to apply.

17. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Tiri is established, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence. You agree to first try to resolve any dispute with us informally by contacting [email protected]. If we can’t resolve it, the dispute will be subject to the courts of that jurisdiction, unless applicable law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.

18. General terms

  • Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service and supersede any prior agreements.
  • Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
  • No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
  • Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
  • Notices. We may provide notices through the app or by email to the address on your account.

19. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
